ACCESS
TO RHODE ISLAND STATE CRIMINAL RECORDS
To
find out if an
individual has a criminal record in the
state
of Rhode Island we check the state repository, the relevant
county criminal court records, and civil
court records.

| The
Rhode Island State Repository limits access to Felony
and Misdemeanor convictions ONLY.
|
|
| Signed
release IS required along with a copy of the
applicant's drivers license. |
|
| State
records contain information submitted to the State
of Rhode Island from each county and other criminal
justice agencies. Records are updated daily. |
|
| Records
are available for convictions dating from 1920 to
today. Prior to 1920, searches can be
conducted by Federal or County records.
All
five (5) Rhode Island counties reported that
criminal records are available. However,
four (4) of these counties must be searched in
person.
Criminal records are held in the
Superior Courts. Civil case filings
involving amounts of over $5000 are held in
Superior Courts. Civil case filings involving
amounts of less than $10,00 are held in District
Courts. Civil cases involving amounts of $5,000
to $10,000 can be filed in either Court.
Bristol and Providence Counties share on
location.

| Cost is
$18 per individual searched statewide and $20
for county criminal records.

| Delivery
Time: Turnaround time is approximately 7-9 business days
for statewide searches. It takes only 3-5
business days for county criminal records. Results are e-mailed to you, or faxed on
request. We cannot guarantee turnaround time as we
are dependent on the state getting back to us in a
timely fashion. If the county, or counties,
specified can only mail records back to us then
there will be an unavoidable delay in processing
the record request. |

should know before you order a State Criminal Search: |

- Felonies
are crimes that are usually punishable by at least one
year or more of jail time.
- Misdemeanors
are less severe charges punishable by a fine or jail
time of less than one year.
