ACCESS
TO OHIO STATE CRIMINAL RECORDS
To
find out if an
individual has a criminal record in the
state
of Ohio we check the state repository, the relevant
county criminal court records, and civil
court records.
|
|
| The
Ohio State Repository limits access to Felony
and Misdemeanor convictions ONLY.
The
information provided is based on name, date of birth, Social Security Number, and fingerprints.
Fifty-one
(51) of Ohio's eighty-eight counties allow
criminal record searches by phone, fax or
mail. If the county, or counties, specified can
only mail records back to us then there will be
an unavoidable delay in processing the record
request.
Felony and civil
case records are held in the Courts of Common
Pleas. Misdemeanor and lower civil cases
are held in County of Municipal Courts.
County Courts are found in cities with a
population of under 5,000 people. These
Courts handle civil cases involving amounts of
less than $3,000. Municipal Courts are
found in cities with a population of under 5,000
people. These Courts handle civil cases
involving amounts under $10,000. There may
be more than one County or Municipal Court in a
county. All have been listed.
|
|
| Signed
release is NOT required. However fingerprints from
the applicant are required for a statewide
search only. |
|
State
records contain information submitted to the State
of Ohio from each county and other criminal
justice agencies. Records are updated daily.
Records
are available for convictions dating from 1921 to
today. Prior to 1921, searches can be
conducted by Federal or County records.
Fingerprints on a state card are required for this request. Please contact our office for information or order county criminal records for a faster turnaround.
|
|
| Cost is
$28 per individual searched statewide and $22
for county criminal records. |
|
| Delivery
Time: Turnaround time is approximately 14 business
days. It only takes 3-5 business days for county
criminal records. Results are e-mailed to you, or faxed on
request. We cannot guarantee turnaround time as we
are dependent on the state getting back to us in a
timely fashion. If the county, or counties,
specified can only mail records back to us then
there will be an unavoidable delay in processing
the record request. |
