ACCESS TO COLORADO STATE CRIMINAL RECORDS

To find out if an individual has a criminal record in the state of Colorado we check the state repository, the relevant county criminal court records, or civil court records.

Records of Conviction by Colorado courts are specifically directed to be open for inspection. Both the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (the state criminal record repository) and sixty (60) of the state's sixty-three (63) counties reported that criminal records are available by mail, phone, or fax. If the county, or counties, specified can only mail records back to us then there will be an unavoidable delay in processing the record request.

Colorado District Courts hold felony records and civil case filings involving amounts of over $10,000.  County Courts hold preliminary felony and misdemeanor records as well as civil case filings involving amounts of less than $10,000.  District and County Courts reside at the same location unless otherwise noted.

The Colorado State Repository limits access to criminal arrest records ONLY.
Signed release is NOT required.
State records contain information submitted to the State of Colorado from each county and other criminal justice agencies. Records are updated monthly.
Records are available for convictions dating from 1987 to today.  Prior to 1987, searches can be conducted by Federal or County records.
Cost is $20 per individual searched statewide and $15 for a county criminal record.
Delivery Time: Turnaround time is approximately 3 business days. Results are e-mailed to you, or faxed on request. We cannot guarantee turnaround time as we are dependent on the state getting back to us in a timely fashion. If the county, or counties, specified can only mail records back to us then there will be an unavoidable delay in processing the record request.
