ACCESS
TO CALIFORNIA STATE CRIMINAL RECORDS
To
find out if an
individual has a criminal record in the
state
of California we check the state repository, the relevant
county criminal court records, or civil
court records.
Of California's
fifty-eight (58) counties, fifty seven (57) allow
criminal record searches by mail, phone or fax
without a signed release. If
the county, or counties, specified can only mail
records back to us then there will be an
unavoidable delay in processing the record
request.
Most counties in
California have one (1) Superior court.
This court holds felony records and civil case
filings of over $25,000. However, many
counties have several courts to handle preliminary
felonies, misdemeanor and civil cases involving
amounts of under $25,000. These courts may
be called Municipal or Justice Courts. A
Municipal Court resides in an area with a
population of over 40,000 residents. A
Justice Court is in an area with a populous of
less than 40,000 residents.

Criminal records cannot
be accessed at the state level. Order county criminal
records instead.
|
| Signed
release is NOT required. |
|
| State
records contain information submitted to the State
of California from each county and other criminal
justice agencies. Records are updated monthly. |
|
| Cost is
$24 per individual searched. |
|
| Delivery
Time: Results are e-mailed to you, or faxed on
request. The turnaround time is approximately 3-5
business days. We cannot guarantee turnaround time as we
are dependent on the state getting back to us in a
timely fashion. If the county, or counties,
specified can only mail records back to us then
there will be an unavoidable delay in processing
the record request. |
